About artist
Kitty, Daisy & Lewis (UK)
Described by The Observer as “a gift to those of us who still believe in magic”, London siblings Kitty, Daisy & Lewis Durham have carved out a truly unique place on the international music scene. A family band in the purest sense of the word, they grew up in a household overflowing with instruments, records, and the spirit of live performance. With their raw energy, unmistakable style, and refusal to follow trends, the trio have become one of the UK’s most exciting live acts.
A family of musicians
Hailing from Kentish Town, London, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis were immersed in music from the start. Their father, Graeme Durham, is a guitarist and mastering engineer, while their mother, Ingrid Weiss, was the drummer of iconic post-punk band The Raincoats. Surrounded by guitars, drums, accordions, banjos, and old records, the three siblings began playing together as children. Kitty asked for her first drum kit at the age of six, while Daisy gravitated towards piano and accordion, and Lewis mastered the guitar, banjo and lap steel. It wasn’t long before family jam sessions turned into a band — and their name came about almost by accident, when a friend promoting a show simply billed them as Kitty, Daisy & Lewis. The name stuck.
Vintage sound, modern energy
One of the defining features of the band is their love for analogue recording techniques and vintage gear. The Durhams even built their own recording space — Durham Sound Studios in Camden — where they work with tape machines, ribbon microphones, and classic consoles. This choice isn’t just aesthetic: it gives their music a warm, authentic texture that feels both timeless and fresh. Their sound draws on a wide spectrum — rhythm & blues, swing, rock’n’roll, ska, punk, and American roots — but always delivered with a raw modern edge that keeps audiences on their feet.
Career milestones
Since releasing their debut album Kitty, Daisy & Lewis in 2008, the trio have gone on to sell more than a quarter of a million records worldwide. Their follow-up albums — Smoking in Heaven (2011), The Third (2015), and Superscope (2017) — each pushed their sound further while retaining the irresistible spirit of their early recordings.
On stage, the band have earned a reputation as festival favourites, with multiple appearances at Glastonbury, Bestival, and tours across Europe, North America and Asia. They’ve supported major acts like Coldplay, Mark Ronson, and Jools Holland, while also winning the admiration of artists as diverse as Amy Winehouse, Eagles of Death Metal, and David Lynch. Their shows are high-energy explosions of rhythm, harmony, and sheer fun, with the siblings often switching instruments mid-set and keeping the audience guessing.
Style and identity
Music isn’t their only nod to the past — their visual aesthetic draws on vintage fashion and stage style, with bold prints, 60s suits, and glamorous jumpsuits adding to the experience. Together, sound and image make Kitty, Daisy & Lewis a complete package: a modern band rooted in tradition, who embrace the past without being confined by it.
Why they matter
What makes Kitty, Daisy & Lewis stand out is the alchemy between siblings, the way they blend decades of musical history with a distinctly contemporary attitude. They appeal to older generations who recognize the roots of their influences, and to younger fans drawn in by the freshness, authenticity, and sheer joy of their performance.
With more than 15 years of international touring, multiple acclaimed albums, and a reputation for electrifying live shows, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis remain one of the most exciting acts to come out of the UK. At Open Air Blues Festival Brezoi 2026, audiences can expect a night of foot-stomping rhythms, soulful harmonies, and pure rock’n’roll magic.
